Sulamot: Music for Social Change

SULAMOT, meaning both a “ladder” and a “musical scale” in Hebrew, an innovative and inspiring music education program for children at risk of all sectors in Israel. It focusses on establishing youth orchestras in peripheral areas and underprivileged communities with the least resources and greatest needs.

Over 10,000 children, including blind and visually impaired children, from third to twelfth grade, have already received free intensive private/group music instruction on a variety of instruments, such as the trumpet, trombone, flute, saxophone, clarinet, percussion instruments, violin, cello, guitar, oud, darbuka and qanon.

We believe that SULAMOT will help to inculcate feelings of motivation, pride, belonging and hope in the participating children and develop their musical as well as their social skills.
